JOURNAL ARTICLES

As a scholar-artist, I  balance my creative work with research and the scholarship of teaching and learning.  I also author or co-author essays reflecting upon my directing work. Recent examples included below are  “O’Connor Onstage: Embodiment and Polyphonic Narration,” an analysis of the Karin Coonrod's adaptation and my staging in a production of Everything That Rises Must Converge, published in the Flannery O’Connor Review; and "Polyphonic Dynamics as Educational Practice,co-authored with colleagues Ming Chen and Ivan Pulinkala and published in Theatre Topics. A passionate advocate for global learning and intercultural art and performance, I served as Global Learning Coordinator for Kennesaw State University's College of the Arts from 2006-2013. Two of the essays posted below in Storytelling, Self, Society, and Kennesaw State University's Journal of Global Initiatives,  focus, respectively, on the convergence of theatre, performance, and global learning during intercultural storytelling workshops in Morocco, and the creation of You Always Go Home, a performance ethnography that celebrates Kenyan culture and identity.
